Art and traditions in Intelvi Valley.

Villa Fogazzaro Roi is an intimate historic home overlooking the Italian shore of Lake Lugano in Oria, a hamlet of Valsolda. Dating from the 16th century, it was donated to FAI by Marquis Giuseppe Roi in 2009. The writer Antonio Fogazzaro, the marquis’s great‑grandfather, loved spending summers here and drew inspiration for many of his works.

The house museum preserves its original 19th‑century furnishings, family photographs, paintings and the writer’s personal belongings. His study and original writing desk reveal his working environment and the atmosphere that inspired Piccolo mondo antico.

Outside, a small hanging garden overlooks the lake, with seasonal flowerbeds, Olea fragrans plants and a green architectural gallery. It is a place to discover literature, art and family memories on Lake Lugano.
